What are gacha/Gachapon?
Gachapon, also known as gashapon, or simply "Gacha" are Japanese capsule toys sold through special vending machines found all across Japan. The name comes from the sounds the machines make: “gacha” for the turning of the dial and “pon” for the capsule dropping down.
What makes gacha so exciting is the surprise. Each series contains multiple possible designs, so you never know exactly which one you’ll get until you open the capsule. From anime characters and game franchises to miniature food, animals, and wacky Japanese items, gacha are known for their incredible detail, creativity, and collectibility despite their small size.
